New IPhone user. Siri?

Hi I just got my first Iphone a 5c IOS 8.1 is there a trick to using Siri? Seems like she only works for the first request then the voice doesn’t speak back after that. Example I say “schedule football game” she will then say ok and ask when and the voice will cut out and there is no beep. Just as a note if I turn off VO Siri works just fine and I can ask and answer her questions just fine. Also if you have any great tips or tricks for a new user I’d be very happy to hear about them. So far I'm likeing the phone but it sure isn't going to be as bullet proof as my old flip phone.

I've had this problem too. So far I haven't found a solution, but I'm told that
apple is working on it. And no, it won't be as bulletproof as your old flip phone.
But a corvette is not as bulletproof as walking either. I'd still take the car.

Go to settings | General | Siri. Turn it off. Wait 30 minutes, then turn it back on.
Restart VoiceOver.
Yes, Siri will have to restart with Apple / relearn any idiosyncracies with your voice if it had to before. But it remembers any contact card info like your name and spouse and all that.

Do I need to have Voice Over off when I turn off Siri for the 30 minutes?

Looks like to reset with Apple I need to turn off dictation also, under keyboard.

But you don't have to have VoiceOver turned off.

Didn't seem to help much, Siri still cuts out.

Press and hold the button until you finish talking than let it go.
You can also find the information Siri is giving you on the screen if it doesn't say so you know what to ask next.
Also restarting the phone completely might help.

Its a bug on ios8. Apple is aware of it.

Another question. How do you answer a call waiting? meening a call that comes in when I'm on another call.

Only way I found was to find the button and double tap. I think the button said hold and switch and is near the bottom on the right.

Headset. Smile.
You have it though.

Haven't used a headset or even earbuds yet. However, I'm amazed at how easy and quick it is to learn and use the iPhone and Voice Over.

Anyone have any thoughts on cases?

I discovered a work around that will let you use sire and not have it cut out. Do a three-finger double-tap on the screen. This turns off the speech, but doesn't disable voiceover. When you're done using siri, press the home button, and perform the three-finger double-tap to enable speech again.

I'll give that a try, I've been telling Siri to turn off VO then when I'm done I have told Siri to turn it back on. Also I've noticed no sound/beeps when I press the home button wile in Siri to return to the home screen. Is that normal or also a bug?

Just an update the 3 fingur double tap still would cause Siri to cut out. So for me at least I need to turn off VO.
